Each resident has a different reason why RCD's affordable housing works for them but a common theme is gratitude for an opportunity.  Through well cared for housing that is affordable and onsite resident services that link people to resources, RCD helps create opportunity for over 3,000 people. 

In 1984 when RCD was founded, affordable housing was a critical issue for families who were being displaced as the real estate market skyrocketed.  Today, market rate real estate remains unaffordable to an even greater number of families.  Yet, safe and decent housing is the foundation of a healthy family and a thriving community. RCD has created and preserved over 1700 units of housing, all of it affordable to families with incomes under 60% of the Area Median Income (now $53,580 for a family of four in the Bay Area.)  We have also committed to providing on-site, free services for our residents to offer even greater opportunity to create healthy families and a thriving community. We're proud of the many ways in which our housing can make a difference.
